TRANSLATION:
(In the marriage record of his son Gerrit to Berendina Cuipers in 1693) he is identified posthumously as the late Herman Laurens van Heek.

Gerrit van Heek, son of the late Herman Laurens van Heek, & Berendina Cuipers widow of the late Helmich Helmichs. (Gerrit is the youngest son of HERMAN and MECHTELD and the progenitor of the textile magnate branch. We descend from HENDRIK, the eldest son, whose branch owned and ran the inn and brewery 'Den Engel' for two centuries.)
HERMAN was Mayor of Delden in 1675 and 1687 and also tax collector. In 1677 he resided in a building behind the church, where perhaps his father's house had stood before the fire of 1655. Later on he lived in 'Den Engel'. In 1674 he appears as pastor in Delden on the recommendation ofthe Reverend Paulus Putman.
